Because I write about hotels on a daily basis, I find myself a bit jaded toward hotels in general. “This resort features” and “Amenities include” blah blah blah. An outdoor pool! Free Wi-Fi! A continental breakfast! Gah. Seriously, make it stop! You’ve gotta have something really banging to get my attention.
It’s gotten to the point where I can read right through advertising copy. So the other night, when I was invited to the Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, I was skeptical. Ugh, I thought, yet another hotel. Can I please just have a break? But, I decided to be social and head there anyways. Well let me just say… It. Was. Uh-mazing. The suite we went to was floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking (can’t use that word at work!!) views of the Walt Disney World Resort. I hesitate to use the word ‘breathtaking’ but there really is no other word.
Just as we walked onto the balcony (there were actually two !!) the sun sank down behind the horizon and painted the sky these gorgeous colors. I managed to snap a few shots before the sky went dark and the stars came out.
The rest of the night was spent between the suite and the rooftop lounge, with Cinderella’s castle lighting a beacon in the background. The night managed to chase away my hotel skepticism.. Even if only for a few days.
What are your thoughts on hotels? Do you have a favorite Disney Resort? Or, even, have you been to Disney?
