It turns out when I’m off traveling, I’m so shit at posting. I get so distracted by meeting new people, seeing old friends and exploring random places that le blog takes a back seat. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing though. It just means there is so much more to write about upon returning. Like how in Amsterdam random people spent ages drawing a map of things to do but in the end just took me around themselves. Or how Spanish fans on the night bus after Spain won taught me more Fernando Torres songs. If I had stayed in to write that one post or edit that one more photo maybe those things wouldn’t have happened. Maybe I wouldn’t have accidentally discovered that little chippy down that one alley in Amsterdam that had the most delicious fries and mayo every. (Despite hunting for it again I never did find it…). Or maybe I wouldn’t have randomly bumped into friends I hadn’t seen in ages because I decided to go out for a walk around London rather than stay in and write. I think that’s part of living in the moment isn’t it though? Maybe, due in part to technology, we over think our writing because we have to tell everyone what we are doing RIGHTNOW. But really, maybe our writing should take a back seat every now and again. Because if we don’t actually live how can we write?
I find it strange when people tell me they don’t like to travel or refuse to go anywhere by themselves. I mean I do get it. Traveling can be scary and intimidating and frustrating. Especially if you have no one there with whom to commiserate. But gosh… It’s just so fun! You never know what you will see or who you will meet. And there is just this wonderful feeling when you discover something new that makes me feel all giddy and like a kid again. So until I edit more photos… This is one of my favorite shots from London. It’s just so normal. (What I love about street photography. Its ability to capture the simple, yet beautiful moments of a city).
Now go out and explore! Even if it is just your own neighborhood. You never know what will happen.
